On Friday 13 April 2018, the Grahamstown campus launched the Sisterhood Club in support of female students.  The aim of the club is to provide ladies with a positive and safe environment in order to be motivated to reach their goals and equip them with life skills.  The ultimate goal is to improve the retention of students.

The Sisterhood Club started small with a number of female lecturers who will act as mentors for the students and enthusiastic young ladies who are excited to go on this journey.  The guest speaker at the event was Ms Kola Mavume, an administrator at the Mathematics Department of the Rhodes University.  Photographs of the event is attached herewith.

The activities planned are, inter alia, a MOT workshop, aerobics classes, make-up tutorials, picnic, movie night, career guidance, camp, motivational speakers and a year-end function.

The  slogan of the Sisterhood Club is: EMPOWERED WOMEN, EMPOWER WOMEN!

We would like to wish the Grahamstown Campus well with this valuable programme and trust that it will be expanded to all campuses in support of our female students.
